The 2nd Annual Jamming at the VA was held this fall at the Mountain Home VA Medical Center gazebo. The event was cosponsored by the Coalition for Awareness and Recovery  of Mental Illness  (CARMI) in conjunction with the  Mental Illness Awareness Week.    Approximately 200 Veterans, family and staff attended the day event. 

Zebbie Brandt, Mental Health Coordinator opened the event with information about mental illness and recovery.  The guest speakers, U.S. Congressman Phil Roe and medical center director, Charlene Ehret delivered messages of support for Veterans and mental illness treatment.   

VA Mental Health staff and community supporters provided information about mental health services and recovery.

Many community support agencies attended including the representatives from Horses 4 Heroes, Fly Fishing /Healing Waters, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and Frontier Peer Support.

Representatives  from  VA Mental Health Service included  Intensive Case Management , Military Sexual Trauma,  Suicide Prevention, Criminal Justice, and the VET Center  provided information regarding resources. 

Every one enjoyed the entertainment provided by The Senior Band, Red Barn Band , Jonesborough Jim, and Hollow Ground Band.   There were games, food, balloons and even a clown during the day.

VA Mental Health Recovery Coordinator and the Coalition for Awareness and Recovery  of Mental Illness  would like to thank everyone for contributing to this event. A special recognition for Veteran  Mr. John Kinsey who worked tirelessly in making this event happen.
