Mental Health

If you qualify for VA health care, you can get high-quality mental health services as part of your benefits. You may also be able to get care for certain mental health problems even if you don't have VA health care.

The Mental Health Service at the James H. Quillen VAMC Mountain Home and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact physical and emotional well-being. We also conduct research, training, and performance measurement to ensure state-of-the-art treatment.

Scope of Service

Mental health services provided at VAMC Mountain Home include evaluation and treatments for —

  • war-related stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • stress from medical problems and/or pain
  • depression, sadness, grief
  • anxiety, worry, nervousness
  • addictive behaviors
  • relationship problems
  • emotional problems, such as managing anger
  • vocational issues
  • troublesome thoughts or ideas
  • confused thinking
  • aggressive or self-harming behaviors
  • memory problems
  • outreach to homeless veterans
  • domiciliary-based residential recovery for Veterans with mental health, medical, social and vocational problems
  • Buprenorphine Clinic
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy
